en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, the 199th plenary session of the United Nations World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (UN/WP.29) was held in Geneva, Switzerland. At the meeting, the United Nations Global Technical Regulation on Autonomous Driving Systems (ADS GTR), jointly led by China, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Japan, was officially approved and released following a vote by all contracting parties.

The ADS GTR released this time defines core technical indicators for autonomous driving system products, simultaneously proposes requirements at the manufacturer level along with supporting audit and evaluation methods, and establishes a regulatory framework covering the entire product lifecycle. As the world's first global technical regulation on autonomous driving, this regulation provides a unified benchmark for the orderly and safe deployment of autonomous driving technology, marking a milestone in accelerating the industrialization of autonomous vehicles and promoting the intelligent transformation of the global automotive industry.

Since 2019, China has successively served as the Vice Chair of the UN Working Party on Automated/Autonomous and Connected Vehicles (WP.29/GRVA) and the Co-Chair of the Autonomous Driving Systems Informal Working Group (ADS IWG), playing a key leading and driving role in the development of this regulation.

In the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will continue to deeply participate in the formulation, revision, and coordination of international standards and regulations in the field of intelligent connected vehicles, accelerate the release and implementation of China's domestic mandatory national standards, coordinate the effective alignment of international regulations with China's domestic standards, and promote the development of a standards and regulations landscape where domestic and international efforts reinforce each other. At the same time, it will further carry out road test demonstrations for intelligent connected vehicles, pilot applications for "vehicle-road-cloud integration," and trials for production access and road operation, further refine technical standards and regulatory schemes, ensure the safe and compliant deployment of autonomous driving products, and comprehensively lead the high-quality development of China's intelligent connected vehicle industry.
