en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 3, the Inch Cape offshore wind project in Scotland, UK, completed its second round of export cable installation, as disclosed by project cable supplier Orient Cable via social media. The offshore wind project, with a capacity of 1.1 gigawatts, is jointly owned by ESB and Red Rock Renewables. It is scheduled to achieve first power output in late 2026 and enter full commercial operation in 2027.
This round of export cable installation was undertaken by Enshore Subsea. The first of the two 85-kilometer transmission lines for the Inch Cape offshore wind project was completed in October 2025, using the cable-laying vessel CMOS Installer. Following the second round of installation, the project will proceed with subsequent work including offshore joints, onshore and offshore platform joints, and terminal handling, with related interface operations planned for completion within the year.
Once completed, the Inch Cape offshore wind project will connect the offshore substation to the newly built onshore substation in East Lothian Cockenzie via export cables. The project plans to install 72 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines, with foundations comprising 54 monopile foundations and 18 jacket foundations. After the offshore wind cable installation is completed, the project's grid connection channel construction will enter the subsequent interface and commissioning phase.
