72 Wind Turbine Components for UK's Inch Cape Project to Arrive at Port of Dundee Between August and September 2026

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Port of Dundee, operated by Forth Ports, will store all components for the 72 wind turbines of the Inch Cape offshore wind project. The project will feature Vestas V236-15 MW turbines, each comprising a four-section tower, three blades measuring 115.5 metres in length, and a nacelle housing electrical equipment. Inch Cape will be the first project in the UK to use this turbine model, which is also the largest turbine to be installed to date.

The first components are scheduled to arrive in early August 2026 aboard the heavy transport vessel "Bravewind," with subsequent deliveries arriving nearly every week until the end of September, involving six different vessels including "Bravewind," "Boldwind," "Tony Stark," and "Vestvind."

More than 130 workers will operate on a site covering 170,000 square metres, responsible for receiving, marshalling, assembling, and commissioning the components, followed by managing loading and departure shipments. The port will unload a total of 576 components, including 288 tower sections, 216 blades stacked in groups of three, and 72 nacelles. The delivery sequence will be towers first, followed by nacelles, and finally blades.

The turbine towers will be assembled directly at the quayside, reaching up to 127.4 metres in height—approximately three times the height of Dudhope Court, Dundee's tallest building—and matching the height of Glasgow Tower, Scotland's tallest freestanding structure.

Turbine installation will be carried out by Cadeler's new wind turbine installation vessel "Wind Mover," which will transport turbines to the offshore site in batches of four starting from November 2026.

Inch Cape received the keys to the Port of Dundee during the summer and has already begun preparatory work, setting up temporary offices and facilities to prepare the port for conversion into a pre-installation staging yard over the next 12 months for turbine supplier Vestas and local contractor teams.
