en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 3, Earthrise Energy commenced commercial operation of the Archtop Solar Project in Illinois, USA. The solar project has an installed capacity of 270MWac and consists of two facilities, Gibson City Solar 1 and Gibson City Solar 2, utilizing the existing grid infrastructure of Earthrise's local natural gas peaking power plant for interconnection.
The Archtop Solar Project adopts a surplus interconnection capacity development strategy, advancing through the MISO surplus interconnection process to bypass the traditional interconnection queue, thereby accelerating project deployment. This solar project marks a significant milestone for Earthrise in advancing solar development in Illinois and provides a replicable project model for adding new solar power plants adjacent to existing generation assets. Earthrise CEO Jeff Hunter stated that the project validates the feasibility of leveraging existing infrastructure to accelerate renewable energy deployment, and this model could serve as a reference for future development in the region.
Earthrise also plans to continue developing approximately 1.5GW of solar project pipeline in Illinois, including Northwest and Glacier Moraine Solar in Cumberland and Coles counties, as well as Plum Valley, Pride of the Prairie Solar in Will County, and Tilton Solar in Vermillion County. With the Archtop solar project in operation, the company's subsequent focus will shift to power plant operation management, grid resource utilization, and the development pace of other projects.
