en.Wedoany.com Reported - Iron Bear Resources Ltd. is advancing the development of the Iron Bear mining project in western Labrador. Managing Director Paul Berend stated that if the project ultimately enters production, its annual iron ore product output could surpass that of the Iron Ore Company of Canada. The project team has completed a scoping study and is currently conducting a pre-feasibility study, while also planning to seek broader public support.

The project plan includes a mine located on the Labrador side of the Quebec-Labrador border, approximately 35 kilometers north of Schefferville, Quebec. According to the plan, ore processing will take place in Quebec, with potential secondary processing within Canada, and new investments in regional transportation infrastructure will be required.

Berend told CBC that the project aims to submit an environmental assessment registration document by the end of this year. This registration document will provide all relevant parties with updated data and a clear view of the project. Berend noted that this is a large-scale project requiring substantial electricity, and at least coordination between two provinces and the federal government.
