During the Global AI Governance Dialogue in Geneva, Switzerland, Namibia's Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, held talks with the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) to discuss deepening collaboration in the field of digital innovation.

Namibia's Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva, Elvis T. Shiweda, accompanied the meeting. During the discussions, Theofelus emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration between the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau to support youth-centered digital initiatives and accelerate Namibia's digital development agenda.
She pointed out the need to create more opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital skills development, helping Namibian youth participate more effectively in the country's growing digital economy. Dr. Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, reaffirmed the Bureau's commitment to supporting Namibia's digital transformation efforts. He stated that the ITU is ready to work closely with the Ministry to identify practical areas of cooperation to promote digital innovation and expand opportunities for Namibian youth.
This meeting is part of Namibia's ongoing engagement with international partners, aimed at strengthening digital capabilities, fostering innovation, and promoting inclusive digital development through strategic cooperation.
