en.Wedoany.com Reported - The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has pledged to support Eswatini's digital development. Prime Minister Russell Dlamini made this statement following a meeting with ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin in Geneva, Switzerland.

During a bilateral meeting held on Sunday at ITU headquarters, Dlamini requested continued support for the GovStack project and increased assistance to help landlocked countries like Eswatini gain access to affordable international fiber connectivity.
Dlamini stated that the ITU reaffirmed its commitment to Eswatini's priorities and confirmed ongoing cooperation.
The meeting follows a recent ITU capacity-building program in Eswatini, where local developers received training on the GovStack framework.
Co-supported by the United Nations Development Programme and the ITU, GovStack is a global initiative that provides a standardized framework to help governments build scalable, open-source digital public services.
The ITU has also supported Eswatini in securing satellite orbital resources. Under the decisions of the 2023 ITU World Radiocommunication Conference, Eswatini is among the African countries allocated orbital resources.
Dlamini also thanked the ITU for supporting Eswatini in developing its national information and communication infrastructure policy through the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) plan. He noted that the policy helped establish the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, which subsequently led to the creation of the Eswatini Communications Commission.
