en.Wedoany.com Reported - Spanish renewable energy developer Acciona Energía will build a 235MWp solar photovoltaic project in Kentucky, USA, marking its 18th renewable energy project in the country. Named Fleming Solar after the local Fleming County, the project is scheduled to begin construction in the coming weeks and commence operations in May 2028. It will become the company's fifth solar photovoltaic project in the United States, joining its current portfolio of 3GW in renewable energy and storage assets.

Late last year, Acciona announced the sale of 49% minority stakes in its four existing solar photovoltaic projects in the United States. Mexican investment firm Mexico Infrastructure Partners acquired equity in this 1.3GW solar portfolio, along with full ownership of two wind farms. This sale is part of Acciona Energía's "selective asset rotation strategy," through which the company has sold over 1.7GW of renewable energy projects since mid-2024, valued at approximately €2.4 billion ($2.75 billion).

In addition to the Fleming project in Kentucky, Acciona Energía is also developing the 458MW Red Tailed Hawk project and the 316MW Fort Bend solar project in Texas, the 127MW High Point project in Illinois, and the 415MW Union Solar project in Ohio.

Outside the United States (its largest market by installed capacity), Acciona Energía has over 1GW of solar installed capacity in Central America and Chile, more than 300MW in its home country Spain, and project portfolios in Egypt, Ukraine, and South Africa. The company stated that its total solar photovoltaic installed capacity in active markets exceeds 4.2GW. Notably, its portfolio in Chile includes the 238MW Malgarida project, to which the company added a 1GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in November 2025.
