en.Wedoany.com Reported - Africa Global Logistics (AGL) announced in July 2026 that the piling work for the East Pier of Congo Terminal at Pointe-Noire Port in the Republic of Congo has been fully completed. This terminal expansion project is the largest ongoing port construction project in Congo (Brazzaville). The project is being undertaken by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
AGL, formerly Bolloré Africa Logistics, is now a subsidiary of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). As a leading integrated logistics operator in Africa, AGL employs over 23,000 people across 49 countries and operates 22 port and railway concessions.
According to AGL's official website, the piling work for the East Pier involved installing 558 piles, with a total steel usage equivalent to the combined weight of three Eiffel Towers. Each pile measures 20 to 35 meters in length and 1.50 to 1.80 meters in diameter. Project manager Pierre-Louis Sapin stated that the construction team adopted a pre-drilled pile driving method to suit the port's soil conditions, strictly adhering to the schedule and ensuring project quality. The East Pier is expected to be delivered in the first half of 2027.

Congo Terminal is a subsidiary of AGL, which plans to invest nearly 1 billion euros in Pointe-Noire Port cumulatively between 2009 and 2027. The total investment for the East Pier expansion is approximately 400 million euros, involving the construction of a 750-meter-long, 17-meter-deep quay line covering 26 hectares, equipped with 16 fully electric gantry cranes. Upon completion, the terminal's annual throughput will double from current levels to 2.3 million TEUs.
Pointe-Noire Port, the largest port in the Republic of Congo, is located on the Atlantic coast and serves as a vital gateway for the country and landlocked nations in Central Africa. This expansion will significantly enhance port capacity, supporting Congo's growing exports of oil and liquefied natural gas. As the contractor, CRBC has previously signed a channel dredging project contract with Congo Terminal.
