en.Wedoany.com Reported - Tata Communications has announced a strategic investment in submarine cable infrastructure by acquiring substantial fiber capacity, aiming to enhance its subsea network capabilities connecting Mumbai and Chennai in India to Singapore. These investments are designed to meet the growing demands of Asian enterprises for bandwidth and AI-generated data, supporting their global expansion.

The company's specific measures include integrating a new submarine cable network connecting Mumbai and Singapore, as well as investing, as a consortium member, in a new submarine cable system linking Chennai and Singapore, which is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2029. Tata Communications stated that the subsea connectivity between India and Singapore is poised to become one of the world's most strategically significant digital corridors, forming a high-capacity, low-latency route to support critical traffic for enterprises, cloud, and hyperscale operators.

Genius Wong, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Core and Next-Generation Connectivity Services at Tata Communications, said these investments reinforce the company's commitment to deploying future-ready digital infrastructure. By combining subsea capacity upgrades with short-term and long-term strategic investments, they enhance the reliability, scalability, and performance of connectivity solutions provided to customers along one of the world's busiest digital corridors.

These new cable networks will also connect to Tata Communications' terrestrial fiber network in India, ensuring seamless connectivity to over 100 data centers nationwide. Combined with its global subsea network TGN, this move will strengthen the capabilities of the IZO connectivity solutions portfolio, such as IZO DC Dynamic Connect and IZO Multi-Cloud Connect, which offer self-healing, always-on availability, and automated provisioning within data center and cloud ecosystems.

Tata Communications' network architecture serves as the backbone of its business portfolio, operating over 500,000 kilometers of subsea fiber and over 200,000 kilometers of terrestrial fiber. The company integrated the new TGN IA2 submarine cable in 2025, reducing latency to improve performance and enhancing reliability through better redundancy.
