China Telecom Hainan Company Deploys 642 Personnel to Ensure Communication During Typhoon Maysak

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Typhoon Maysak, the 10th typhoon of this year, made landfall as a tropical storm along the coast of Lingshui, Hainan, at around 18:20 on July 3, becoming the first typhoon to hit China this year. Currently, the typhoon is approaching Guangxi and is expected to make landfall again on July 4. Affected by the typhoon, the National Meteorological Center continued to issue an orange alert for heavy rain at 06:00 on July 4, forecasting that from 08:00 on July 4 to 08:00 on July 5, heavy rain will hit parts of southern Guangxi, western Guangdong, western Hainan Island, western and eastern Yunnan, eastern Hubei, northern Hunan, southern Anhui, southern Jiangsu, as well as northern Liaoning, central and eastern Jilin, and southern Heilongjiang. Among these, some areas in eastern Hubei, southern Anhui, southern Jiangsu, southern Guangxi, and western Hainan Island will experience torrential rain, with extreme downpours expected in parts of southern Guangxi.

In response to Typhoon Maysak, China Telecom quickly activated its emergency response mechanism, deploying various typhoon prevention and disaster relief measures in advance to ensure communication stability.

As of 8:00 on July 4, China Telecom Hainan Company had deployed a total of 642 communication support personnel, 240 communication support vehicles, 34 generator units, and 58 Tiantong satellite phones.

The Hainan Company implemented a leadership duty system and a daily reporting mechanism, closely monitoring typhoon forecasts to ensure all preventive plans were in place. Efforts were focused on strengthening waterproofing and flood prevention inspections of communication rooms and base stations, as well as patrolling and reinforcing communication lines and key areas prone to flooding, to prevent secondary disasters caused by heavy rainfall and ensure the safety of core facilities.

Before the typhoon, support personnel reinforce and protect optical cable lines

To date, a total of 664 communication rooms and 13,000 sheath kilometers of optical cables have been inspected, with 14 risk hazards identified and rectified. The Hainan Company promptly prioritized communication lines and equipment for relevant government departments and key customers to ensure smooth command, dispatch, and public service communication.

China has now entered the main flood season, with frequent heavy and sustained rainfall. Telecom support personnel will continue to stand guard on the front lines of wind and rain to ensure communication remains uninterrupted.
