en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazil has adopted the smart factory model as a key focus of its reindustrialization strategy, investing 56 million reais in digitalization and artificial intelligence applications. However, the success of this transformation heavily depends on a stable infrastructure capable of operating reliably in harsh environments.

Connectivity Infrastructure Supports Brazil's Transition to Smart Factories

Public initiatives led by the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (Agência Brasileira de Desenvolvimento Industrial, ABDI), such as the "Brasil Mais Produtivo" program in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC), the National Industrial Training Service (SENAI), and the National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES), are working to accelerate digital transformation in the industrial sector. Douglas Marques, Sales Manager at LAPP Brazil, points out that the integrity of front-end data collection is highly dependent on the resilience of the cabling system.

Marques emphasizes that for information to be fully transmitted to management systems, cables must withstand harsh conditions such as temperature fluctuations, chemical erosion, continuous mechanical vibration, and electromagnetic interference. In smart factories, programmable logic controllers, robots, manufacturing execution systems (MES), enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and data analytics platforms require high levels of integration, with interoperability relying on connectivity solutions that support multiple industrial protocols such as PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and IO-Link.

Marques believes that as global powers accelerate investments in automation and advanced connectivity, Brazil is at a critical stage in modernizing its industrial base. The opportunity for the domestic production sector lies in building infrastructure that meets the demands of the coming decades, and Brazil's advantage is that it is still in the construction phase, allowing it to modernize its industry with a more connected and efficient logic.
