en.Wedoany.com Reported - SEALSQ Corp has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with GlobalFoundries to conduct joint development in secure semiconductor platforms, post-quantum cryptography, and semiconductor-based quantum computing technologies. The two parties will leverage GF's process technology leadership and manufacturing capabilities, combined with SEALSQ's expertise in hardware-based authentication security, silicon solutions supporting post-quantum cryptography, and quantum technologies.
Semiconductor CMOS technology has driven the digital revolution by enabling continuous transistor scaling, higher integration density, and cost-effective mass production. This technology is becoming a key enabler for the quantum era, allowing quantum processors to be built on proven high-volume semiconductor manufacturing platforms, thereby providing the scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency required for industrial applications.
The collaboration will focus on three strategic areas. First, expanding GF's IP ecosystem through certified post-quantum cryptography security building blocks. The two parties will collaborate with MIPS, a GF company, to jointly develop pre-certified post-quantum cryptography security IP modules and Chiplet hardware security module components, targeting applications including hardware security modules and secure enclaves. Second, advancing cryogenic CMOS for quantum computing. Based on GF's recently announced quantum technology solutions business and SEALSQ's vision in quantum ASIC design, the parties will collaborate on designing and developing cryogenic electronic ASICs for customers, leveraging GF's U.S. manufacturing capabilities. Third, aligning with sovereign and trusted supply chain objectives. This partnership aims to support sovereign supply chain priorities in Europe and the United States, committed to trusted, traceable, and secure semiconductor production.
SEALSQ CEO Carlos Moreira stated that the shared long-term vision of GF and SEALSQ is that semiconductors, cybersecurity, post-quantum cryptography, and quantum computing are converging into a unified technology ecosystem. He noted that GF's growing investment in security and quantum technologies complements SEALSQ's expertise in secure semiconductors, post-quantum cryptography, and the quantum ecosystem. Nicholas Sergeant, Vice President of Quantum Technology Solutions at GF, stated that this collaboration lays the foundation for the quantum era, and SEALSQ's expertise in secure semiconductors and post-quantum cryptography complements GF's differentiated technology portfolio and expanding quantum capabilities.
This initiative builds on GF's long-term investments in quantum technology and complements SEALSQ's investments in quantum computing, reinforcing the critical role of semiconductors in enabling scalable and commercially viable quantum systems.
