en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Philippine government supports Canadian enterprise software company OpenText in expanding its business scale in the country, with officials noting that this move could drive investments in digital technology fields such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, while creating more high-value jobs.

The Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) stated that this expansion plan was discussed during a meeting in Canada, attended by DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque, Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go, and OpenText executives. One project mentioned in the discussions is a proposed cloud transformation project with BDO Unibank, valued between $8 million and $10 million, with a five-year duration.
OpenText also expressed interest in participating in the Philippine government's digital transformation initiatives, specifically in areas such as AI-based citizen services, cybersecurity, secure cloud infrastructure, digital records modernization, and digital forensics. The Philippine delegation stated that the government, through the DTI and its investment promotion agencies, including the Board of Investments and the Philippine Trade and Investment Centers in Toronto and London, will support OpenText's long-term expansion.
Roque stated that OpenText's planned investment aligns with the government's goal of attracting higher-value technology projects. She noted that OpenText's plans are consistent with the Philippines' national agenda to build a robust and secure digital economy, from AI-driven public services to critical banking infrastructure, and that this expansion demonstrates how the country is closely collaborating with global technology companies.
OpenText currently employs over 1,300 people at its Makati office, which serves as one of the company's global delivery centers. Its operations in the Philippines provide software development, implementation, customer support, managed services, enterprise information management, cybersecurity, and cloud services to clients in the Asia-Pacific region and other markets. The Makati facility, inaugurated by the company in 2024, houses a cybersecurity center responsible for monitoring and responding to threats within OpenText's global cloud network.
