en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 20, local time, Amazon's Prime Video will invest more than $2 billion in Latin America between 2027 and 2030, covering original programming, local productions and licensed content, and sports broadcasting rights, with key markets including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile.

Under the investment plan, Prime Video will more than double its local original content output in the five countries above, using 2026 as the baseline, with plans to release over 25 new titles in 2027 alone, spanning genres such as TV series, films, unscripted shows, and reality TV. The initial slate includes projects such as Season 2 of La Oficina, Season 2 of Tremembé, Season 2 of Menem, Marília, Te Odio, Te Amo, Rojo Corazón, Catedrales, and Valentina.

Sports events will be a major component of this investment. Since 2026, more than 20 million households in Latin America have watched sports programming on Prime Video, surpassing the total for the full year of 2025; on an ad-supported reach basis, the platform has reached approximately 60 million sports viewers in the region this year.

Prime Video holds an 11-year global broadcast agreement with the National Basketball Association (NBA), currently offering more than 200 NBA games per season in Brazil and Mexico, and has expanded live NBA coverage to Argentina, Colombia, and Chile for the first time. In Brazil, in addition to the Copa do Brasil, Prime Video has added Brasileirão Série A content; in Mexico, it will begin broadcasting 38 home matches of the Mexican national football team over the next four years starting September 26.

On content distribution channels, Prime Video will expand third-party streaming subscriptions as well as movie rental and purchase services to six additional markets in Latin America. Users in these markets will be able to rent or purchase film and TV content through the Prime Video Store without needing a Prime membership, and will also have access to the platform's ad-supported free content service.
