en.Wedoany.com Reported - Hanwha Vision is developing the next-generation AI system-on-chip (SoC) "Wisenet 11" based on Samsung Electronics' foundry 4-nanometer (nm) process. As AI functions become increasingly important in its core business of security cameras, this move is interpreted as a strategy to strengthen its self-developed SoC technology.
Hanwha Vision has begun designing the AI SoC "Wisenet 11" for next-generation security cameras. The chip adopts Samsung Electronics' foundry 4nm process, which is a relatively advanced node in the edge AI field. Compared to its predecessor, Wisenet 9, which was based on an 8nm process, significant improvements in performance and energy efficiency are expected.

The Wisenet series is one of the core components of Hanwha Vision's security business. The company has been launching the Wisenet series of SoCs for security cameras since 2010 and applying them to its own high-performance network cameras. As AI-based real-time video data analysis functions become more prevalent in security cameras, the Wisenet series continues to enhance its AI performance. The previous generation, Wisenet 9, is equipped with a neural processing unit (NPU), offering inference performance three times higher than its predecessor.
However, the development completion timeline and commercialization prospects for the Wisenet 11 remain unclear. Hanwha Vision has previously liquidated a legal entity responsible for system semiconductor development and is expanding collaboration with external fabless companies. The company spun off a subsidiary, "VisionNext," in 2021 to specialize in developing system semiconductors such as Wisenet. Due to difficulties in securing external customers and R&D expenditures, VisionNext incurred consecutive losses, with a deficit of 17.5 billion Korean won in 2024. Hanwha Vision liquidated VisionNext in the fourth quarter of 2025 and integrated relevant personnel into the parent company.
Subsequently, in March of this year, Hanwha Vision signed a strategic technology partnership with U.S. AI semiconductor company Ambarella, planning to jointly advance the development of AI video security technologies, including next-generation SoCs. A semiconductor industry insider stated that Hanwha Vision adopted Samsung Electronics' 4nm process to enhance its camera technology, but also noted that due to high chip development costs and the partnership with Ambarella, there is a possibility of shifting to externally developed chips.
