en.Wedoany.com Reported - Network Rail has recently launched a 27-week renovation project to strengthen the Barbush Viaduct over the Allan Water in Dunblane, enhancing structural durability and reducing the need for future major repairs.

The £1.3 million project includes repairs to key steel components, anti-corrosion repainting, and improvements to the viaduct's foundations. To ensure construction safety, the team will use floating boats on the river and set up small work areas alongside the viaduct, with materials transported by rail to minimize the impact on the local environment.
Ross Moran, Route Director at Network Rail Scotland, said the investment will help ensure safe train operations on the Dunblane section for years to come, while making the structure stronger and more resilient, reducing the likelihood of future major maintenance.
During construction, Network Rail is working with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) to implement strict measures to prevent debris or materials from entering the water, protecting the river's ecology. The upgraded viaduct is expected to offer improved durability and resistance to degradation, providing reliable railway infrastructure support for both passenger and freight services.
