en.Wedoany.com Reported - The JHW91-13 well in China's first national-level continental shale oil demonstration zone—the Xinjiang Jimusaer National Continental Shale Oil Demonstration Zone—has recently been successfully completed. The drilling cycle was 7.75 days, with a total depth of 5,501 meters and a vertical depth of 4,031 meters, setting a new domestic record for the shortest drilling cycle for shale oil wells of the same depth. The drilling efficiency has reached the advanced level of international shale oil wells of the same type.

Xinjiang Jimusaer shale oil is a typical type of difficult-to-extract continental shale oil in China. The reservoir has strong heterogeneity and interbedded mudstone formations, making it prone to complex conditions such as wellbore instability and downhole sticking during drilling. These challenges represent a world-class development difficulty, imposing extremely high requirements on drilling technology precision, on-site management capabilities, and collaborative research efforts. In recent years, Xinjiang Oilfield has continuously improved the collaborative research level for optimized and fast drilling in the demonstration zone. By optimizing the integrated geological-engineering management model, strengthening the joint tackling mechanism between the owner and contractor, and integrating technologies such as high-precision seismic imaging and intelligent fault prediction, the company has rapidly transformed technological iteration results into on-site construction effectiveness, achieving precise and efficient drilling in complex formations.

While accelerating drilling speed, the construction team implemented a differentiated management model of "one section, one strategy," with graded prevention and control of geological risks, achieving simultaneous improvements in drilling quality, efficiency, and safety. The efficient completion of the JHW91-13 well marks a breakthrough in the integrated geological-engineering research and joint tackling efforts between the owner and contractor in the demonstration zone, providing a replicable and scalable practical model for optimized and fast drilling of deep shale oil in China.
