en.Wedoany.com Reported - EnviTec Anlagenbau GmbH & Co. KG has officially commissioned a combined biogas and biomethane plant project for Halinga OÜ in Estonia. Located in Lääneranna, Pärnu County, the facility began operations on June 16. EnviTec is responsible for the production and upgrading of raw biogas, while Halinga OÜ handles civil engineering, construction, site layout, and interface management. The entire project was completed within one year.

The plant utilizes EnviTec's membrane-based gas upgrading technology, producing approximately 600 standard cubic meters of biomethane per hour. EnviTec notes that its EnviThan plant in Estonia can supply around 199 GWh of domestically produced biomethane annually to the country's transport sector, roughly equivalent to the annual fuel consumption of 6,000 to 7,000 trucks.

The project's feedstock comes from slurry and other organic residues from the Halinga dairy farm. After anaerobic digestion, the substrate is stored in two lagoons and subsequently applied to farmland as high-quality fertilizer. Halinga OÜ has over 3,000 head of livestock and manages 3,700 hectares of land.

The biomethane produced by the project will be used locally as a climate-friendly fuel via an on-site compressed natural gas filling station, with major buyers including public transport operators in Tartu, Rakvere, and Pärnu. The project has received funding from the EU's NextGenerationEU Recovery and Resilience Facility. Halinga's owner Infortar AS and its partners have invested approximately €30 million in biomethane plants in the region. EnviTec states that demand for biomethane continues to grow, particularly in the beverage and chemical industries, as well as in the production of synthetic fuels, with notable demand for CO₂ liquefaction and liquid CO₂ applications.
