en.Wedoany.com Reported - Graphite One Inc. (TSXV: GPH) (OTCQX: GPHOF) announced on July 9, 2026, that following an Environmental Assessment (EA) process in collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), all parties determined that an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is the best path forward for advancing the permitting of the Graphite Creek deposit. The company is a developer of a complete domestic advanced graphite supply chain in the United States.
Graphite One agreed with this decision and reaffirmed its commitment to the public comment process to ensure all voices are heard and stakeholder concerns are fully addressed. The company stated that it has conducted all permitting work at the level required for an EIS from the outset and has maintained a launch timeline aimed at completing the EIS in a timely manner.
Graphite One expects the EIS timeline to align with Alaska's permitting requirements, with no anticipated delays to the proposed 2029 production start date for the Graphite Creek project. The company expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the FAST-41 program and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to assist in completing the EIS on schedule while fully addressing all comments and concerns related to the project.
Anthony Huston, President and CEO of Graphite One, stated that the company fully supports the Army Corps' recommendation to conduct a comprehensive EIS review. Huston noted that the team has been preparing for this level of review throughout the process and is satisfied with the efforts of FAST-41 and USACE, which have resulted in a completion date only two years later than the original submission date. The company remains confident in delivering this critical domestic graphite supply chain project within the target 2029 timeline. Huston said this approach ensures transparency and provides all stakeholders, including local communities, Indigenous groups, and regulatory agencies, with a full opportunity to express opinions and address concerns.
Leadership from the Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) also expressed support for a comprehensive EIS review of the Graphite Creek project. BSNC, a regional Alaska Native corporation, made a significant direct investment in Graphite One in 2023. BSNC President Cindy Towarak Massie stated that advancing the EIS is a more comprehensive approach, providing additional regulatory clarity for Graphite One's investors and more opportunities for shareholders living near the project to address concerns.
The Graphite Creek project, located on the Seward Peninsula in Alaska, has been identified by the U.S. Geological Survey as the largest known natural graphite deposit in the United States. The project serves as a cornerstone for establishing a secure, vertically integrated domestic supply chain to produce battery-grade anode materials and other advanced graphite forms, supporting national priorities for critical minerals independence, supply chain resilience, and growth in the electric vehicle, energy storage, and defense sectors.
