en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 3, the Baowu Huanke Chongqing Heavy Steel Blast Furnace Slag Resource Comprehensive Utilization Project, constructed by China's Wugang Greentown, held its groundbreaking ceremony in Changshou District, Chongqing. This project is a key initiative in the circular utilization of metallurgical solid waste within the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and a green, industry-city integration project collaboratively advanced by Baowu Huanke, Chongqing Steel, Baosteel Engineering, and Wugang Greentown, among other Baowu ecosystem units. It serves as a practical demonstration for the coordinated development of steel cities nationwide and low-carbon construction through industry-city integration.

As the contractor, Wugang Greentown leveraged its professional expertise in green construction and solid waste engineering to realize its first physical project in the Heavy Steel area. The project relies on Baowu's internal mechanisms for industrial resource exchange, technology sharing, and market linkage, with all participants working in a division of labor, complementing each other's strengths, and forming an industrial community. Meanwhile, Wugang Greentown plans to use this project as a springboard to continuously expand its green engineering market in the Chongqing region, driving regional business growth through a reputation for high-quality projects.

According to reports, upon completion, the project will have the capacity to fully and locally consume all blast furnace slag from Chongqing Steel, addressing the issues of solid waste storage and disposal at the steel plant. It will achieve the circular development goal of "zero solid waste leaving the plant," forming a closed loop for the full-scale resource utilization of steel production waste, and providing a replicable pathway for the reduction, harmless treatment, and high-value utilization of solid waste in the metallurgical industry. The project's main product is high-performance slag powder, which can replace 30% to 70% of cement usage in engineering construction on an equivalent basis, thereby reducing carbon emissions throughout the entire building materials production process and helping to fill gaps in the regional low-carbon building materials industry chain.

Wugang Greentown stated that throughout the entire construction process, it will implement integrated management and control standards, coordinating multiple requirements such as safety, quality, schedule, green construction, and intelligent construction. It will uniformly optimize the construction organization plan, ensuring efficient project progress through high-standard, full-process management, and striving to create a benchmark model for Baowu's collaborative construction.
