en.Wedoany.com Reported - Maserati unveiled the Project GT4 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This concept race car, based on the updated GranTurismo, was designed by Maserati Corse and is planned to enter competition in 2028.

While retaining the GranTurismo's iconic front end, the new car features an aggressive aerodynamic package, including a front splitter, dive planes, and a large rear wing. The bodywork incorporates a quick-release hood with ventilation vents and retains the road car's rear spoiler and diffuser. Additionally, the concept car uses lightweight side windows, replaced rear quarter windows, and 18-inch lightweight wheels shod with Pirelli P-Zero tires. The braking system is equipped with dedicated cooling ducts.

To meet track requirements, the GT4 concept car achieves a significant weight reduction of approximately 882 lbs (400 kg) through a minimalist interior. The driver's position features a small steering wheel and a compact digital instrument cluster. The center console is race-specific, with dedicated control buttons, two air vents, and a fire extinguisher activation button. The cabin also includes a roll cage and certified racing seats with six-point harnesses.

Maserati has not disclosed the specific power output of the GT4 but confirmed it is powered by a 3.0-liter Nettuno V6 engine. This engine utilizes pre-chamber combustion technology derived from Formula 1, and the powertrain produces over 690 hp (515 kW / 700 PS). For the chassis, the car features a race-tuned suspension derived from the GranTurismo Trofeo, with adjustable dampers and anti-roll bars, along with other targeted calibrations.

The race car will be offered to a select number of customers interested in track driving. Vincent Biard of Maserati Corse stated that the Project GT4 is based on experience gained with the Maserati GT2, aiming to bring the technical, sporting, and operational expertise developed in recent years into the GT4 category, while maintaining a close connection with the GranTurismo on which it is based. The project's goal is to develop a competitive, reliable, and accessible race car for teams and drivers.
