MTS Deploys AI Ecological Monitoring System in Krasnoyarsk, Russia

en.Wedoany.com Reported - MTS has launched a pilot operation of an environmental control system and proactive environmental risk management system in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, which utilizes artificial intelligence technology for continuous monitoring of urban air and prediction of pollutant dispersion. The project is carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Ecology and Rational Natural Resource Use of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, aiming to improve the region's ecological monitoring system.

MTS's ecological monitoring platform integrates proprietary software services and data from multiple atmospheric pollution observation and monitoring systems in Krasnoyarsk. Information is collected automatically around the clock from mini-observation stations installed in various locations across the regional capital, including the Vzlyotka (Взлётка) neighborhood and Kubekovo (Кубеково), and is analyzed in conjunction with climatic and meteorological conditions. The system also integrates data from the internal automatic control system of a local large industrial enterprise, enabling online recording of parameters such as gas concentrations, particulate matter, temperature, pressure, relative humidity, wind speed, and wind direction for real-time ecological status assessment.

This solution monitors compliance with maximum permissible concentrations of pollutants, identifies exceedances, and automatically issues risk alerts, while generating reports and dashboards to track pollution dynamics. In addition to tracking current ecological conditions, the system can predict potential exceedances. It generates localized weather forecasts for selected locations and simulates pollutant dispersion over more than 48 hours, covering three emission intensity scenarios.

"We have experience implementing digital solutions in the ecological field, such as similar water and air monitoring systems in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and a video ecological monitoring complex in the Chelyabinsk Oblast. The current digital solution enables continuous monitoring of virtually any object for rapid response when needed. The system is included in the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade's list of AI solutions, has no analogues in this field, and a license from the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring confirms MTS's ecological expertise," noted Sergey Yegoshin, Director of MTS in the Krasnoyarsk Krai.

"Introducing such technologies helps improve the region's ecological control system. It is crucial to quickly obtain information on the environmental situation and make decisions using all available tools. The new digital service not only tracks current conditions but also predicts potential risks," emphasized Yulia Gumenyuk, First Deputy Minister of Ecology of the Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Previously, MTS deployed a "smart" system in Krasnoyarsk capable of identifying illegal landfills, with its AI automatically recording violations in the field of environmental protection without human intervention. Thanks to the operation of smart cameras, incidents of vandalism and violations at solid waste disposal sites in the Oktyabrsky District have decreased.
