Amazon and Wiwynn Expand $1.6 Billion Server Manufacturing Base in the U.S.

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 9, Amazon and Wiwynn announced the continued expansion of Wiwynn's advanced manufacturing base in Socorro, Texas, U.S. Wiwynn stated that cumulative investment in the base has exceeded $1.6 billion, with plans to add nearly 1,000 jobs by the end of 2027; the total number of factory employees is expected to exceed 2,500 next year and reach approximately 4,000 once full capacity is achieved.

The Socorro base is Wiwynn's first manufacturing base built in the United States, primarily undertaking the manufacturing and integration of server systems, server racks, and related complete system products, with products intended for use in Amazon data centers. The base has developed manufacturing capabilities ranging from server assembly and testing to rack-level integration, enabling direct delivery of customized data center hardware.

Wiwynn's current server business has further extended from general-purpose cloud computing equipment to AI infrastructure. The company is advancing GPU, ASIC, and high-power rack-level systems, while simultaneously developing solutions related to liquid cooling, high-voltage direct current power supply, and high-speed networking. Its AI server products already cover platforms such as NVIDIA GB300 NVL72, placing higher demands on manufacturing-side power supply, thermal management, testing, and full-rack integration capabilities.

To support the expansion of data center customers in North America and globally, Wiwynn has established production and integration capabilities in the United States, Mexico, Malaysia, the Czech Republic, and Taiwan, China, and has planned in advance the factory space, power, and testing resources required for high-power racks. The Socorro base is an important component of its North American manufacturing system, working together with its Mexican manufacturing node to handle the delivery of server and AI rack products for the U.S. market.

The newly added positions from this expansion cover manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, testing and automation, quality management, equipment maintenance, supply chain, and production operations. Wiwynn is also collaborating on talent programs with institutions such as the University of Texas at El Paso, New Mexico State University, and El Paso Community College to supplement engineering and technical personnel for subsequent factory capacity expansion.
