en.Wedoany.com Reported - TotalEnergies is advancing multiple offshore oil and gas development projects in Angola to further expand its upstream portfolio in the country. Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanné will deliver a speech at the Angola Oil & Gas (AOG) 2026 conference in September this year.
TotalEnergies remains one of the leading investors in Angola's upstream sector, with projects spanning deepwater oil, non-associated gas, and renewable energy.
The largest investment among these is the $6 billion Kaminho project in Block 20/11. This is the first major deepwater development in the Kwanza Basin, scheduled to come onstream in 2028. The project will produce approximately 70,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from the Cameia and Golfinho fields via a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel. The FPSO is designed with gas injection and electrification to reduce routine flaring emissions.
TotalEnergies has also extended its operatorship of Block 32 until 2043, supporting further development around the Kaombo Norte and Kaombo Sul FPSOs. Meanwhile, through partnerships with ExxonMobil and Angola's National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency, the company is expanding exploration in the Benguela and Namibe basins.
Earlier this year, TotalEnergies, as a member of the New Gas Consortium, achieved first gas from the Quiluma field. This is Angola's first large-scale non-associated gas development project. Once fully operational, the Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields are expected to process approximately 330 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, supplying about 2 million tons per year of LNG via the Angola LNG facility, while also meeting domestic gas demand.
In addition to its upstream operations, TotalEnergies is building the Quilemba solar project near Lubango. Phase I will add 35 MWp of generation capacity, with Phase II planned to add another 45 MWp.
Pouyanné's participation in AOG 2026 comes as Angola continues its efforts to sustain offshore oil production while advancing new gas development projects and attracting frontier exploration investment.
