en.Wedoany.com Reported - Germany-based developer wpd from Bremen has successfully secured a total contracted capacity of 156.9 megawatts in the latest onshore wind auction held by the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA). The tender round saw significant oversubscription, with a tendered capacity of 2,495 MW and 628 bids received totaling 6,409 MW. Ultimately, 270 bids were successful, amounting to 2,499 MW. Auction results show that the average capacity-weighted winning price fell to 5.06 euro cents per kilowatt-hour, setting a new record low since the current tender procedure was implemented, reflecting ongoing downward price pressure in the German market.

Hartmut Broesamle, Managing Director of wpd, stated that with a winning capacity of 156.9 MW, the company achieved a very strong result under exceptionally challenging market conditions. He attributed this outcome to the quality of project development and the competitiveness of the portfolio. The company secured approximately 300 MW in the previous auction round and currently has over 1 GW of onshore wind projects under construction in Germany.
Founded in 1996, wpd operates in 32 countries, including markets around the Baltic Sea, focusing on the development and operation of wind and solar projects. The company reports a total pipeline capacity of approximately 38,545 MW for onshore wind and 8,015 MW for solar.
