en.Wedoany.com Reported - Voith has announced the launch of eVenFilm Pro, a high-performance rubber roll coating specifically designed for film presses in paper and board production, aimed at meeting the demand for robust materials in sizing and coating processes under high thermal and mechanical stress.

In paper and board production, film presses apply a uniform and controlled starch layer to the paper surface. This finishing step directly impacts the final product's surface properties, printability, and structural strength. Extended operation subjects standard roll covers to significant physical and thermal stress, creating an industrial need for materials that maintain dimensional stability and coating uniformity.
The eVenFilm Pro coating features a refined polymer matrix design integrated with a modular combination of specific fibers and fillers. This structural configuration is engineered to withstand high linear loads in the nip, handle highly abrasive starch mixtures, and operate continuously at starch temperatures exceeding 60°C. Additionally, the material can function during startup phases on rolls lacking active cooling systems. By adjusting specific fiber and filler modules, the coating's mechanical properties can be customized to match different machine configurations and production targets within the paper production line.
In harsh industrial environments, one of the primary failure modes for film press roll coatings is moisture penetration, which causes the coating to delaminate and corrode the underlying metal core of the roll. To counteract this chemical degradation, the rubber formulation includes an integrated safety module that reduces water permeability. This moisture resistance minimizes the likelihood of unplanned downtime and mechanical failure. According to Ralf Moser, Global Product Manager for Finishing and Drying at Voith Paper, this enhanced resistance to penetration offers greater operational predictability, improves overall line processability, and ensures production stability for demanding paper grades.
In the industrial paper machinery sector, film press roll coatings are often compared with alternative products, such as Valmet's Sizer Roll Cover CF and SH series, or Andritz's Prestige and Hypercoat series, which utilize advanced polyurethane and specialized synthetic rubber composites. Industry standard benchmark parameters evaluate continuous thermal tolerance, nip linear load capacity, and moisture resistance. While conventional synthetic rubber covers typically experience accelerated chemical degradation when exposed to continuous starch temperatures exceeding 50°C, eVenFilm Pro differentiates itself by maintaining structural integrity and hardness at temperatures above 60°C. Furthermore, the technology employs a customized modular fiber and filler matrix designed to impede moisture penetration, enabling reliable roll operation during startup without internal cooling systems, thereby reducing the risk of water-induced delamination and core corrosion over long operating cycles.
