en.Wedoany.com Reported - BW LNG has confirmed it is the contracting party for a new floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) ordered from South Korea's HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.

According to broker reports, the Singapore-based gas shipping company has contracted to build a 174,000-cubic-meter FSRU at a cost of approximately $320 million, with delivery scheduled for the second quarter of 2029. The vessel is linked to a new Indonesian floating regasification project in collaboration between BW Group and PT AKR Corporindo.
AKRA and BW Group entity BW FSRU VII have established a joint venture, PT Andalanesa Energi Primer, to develop an LNG FSRU project for the JIIPE Gresik Special Economic Zone in East Java. Each party holds a 49% stake in the joint venture, with the remaining 2% held by AKRA's parent company, PT Arthakencana Rayatama. The FSRU is expected to support LNG infrastructure for the JIIPE LNG receiving terminal project, with commercial operations targeted for the third quarter of 2029.
BW LNG, which operates over 30 LNG carriers and FSRUs, has also been active in the conventional LNG carrier newbuilding market this year. Splash reported in May that the BW Group entity had confirmed orders for two 174,000-cubic-meter vessels at HD Hyundai Samho, scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2029. These two ships follow a previous order for two LNG carriers placed at the same shipyard in November last year.
