en.Wedoany.com Reported - Delta Air Lines has operated the Boeing 757 for over 40 years. According to fleet data from Planespotters.net, the airline's oldest active aircraft is a non-stretched Boeing 757-200, registered as N649DL, which joined the Delta fleet in May 1989 and is now 37.2 years old. This aircraft has been specially modified with an all-VIP interior and is primarily used for large-scale charter services for high-end clients such as sports teams.

Entering July 2026, this oldest 757 aircraft experienced a busy flight cycle. According to tracking data from Flightradar24, the aircraft operated multiple routes in early July. On July 1, it departed from Seattle, flying to Phoenix, Sacramento, and Los Angeles. On July 2, it arrived in Denver and returned to Sacramento the same day. After a few days in California, it departed for Miami on July 5 and arrived in Atlanta early the next day. Over the following days, its operations also covered Providence, Minneapolis, Tampa, and Washington, D.C.

This aircraft has not always been used as a charter plane. It initially operated regular passenger flights for Delta Air Lines, then transferred to Delta's low-cost brand Song Airlines in September 2003. During its service with Song Airlines, the aircraft featured an all-economy layout, accommodating 199 passengers. After returning to Delta's mainline operations in May 2006, it was reconfigured with 26 domestic first-class recliners in the front and 158 economy seats in the rear. In December 2014, at over 25 years old, the aircraft was stored in Marana. However, it was reactivated in March 2016, a year later, and completed a modification in May of the same year, evolving into its current all-premium 72-seat VIP layout.

Excluding this VIP-modified aircraft, Delta Air Lines' oldest regularly operating Boeing 757-200 is the one registered as N658DL. This aircraft was delivered in May 1990 and is 36.1 years old. It originally featured 24 domestic first-class recliners and 156 economy seats, but was modified in March 2017 to a high-density layout with 20 first-class and 179 economy seats. The aircraft has been stored three times: first from September 2009 to February 2010, second from January 2016 to January 2017, and third from April to July 2020. Recent data shows that this Detroit-based aircraft primarily operates domestic routes, with destinations including Anchorage, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Mexico City, Minneapolis, Norfolk, Phoenix, and Tampa.
