en.Wedoany.com Reported - Plastipak has launched the pakPET single-pellet solution, designed to help manufacturers increase recycled content while maintaining packaging quality, consistency, and operational efficiency.

This new solution is a ready-to-use single resin made by blending virgin PET with built-in recycled content. Plastipak states that the product is suitable for beverage and food containers, personal care packaging, and thermoforming applications.
According to the company, the main advantages of this solution include integrating 30% recycled content, plug-and-play compatibility with existing PET processes, and food contact approval for some packaging applications. PakPET also claims to simplify processing and certification workflows, deliver consistent packaging performance, and provide certified post-consumer material traceability through EN15343 certification.
The solution is produced at Plastipak's plant in Verbania, Italy, and is expected to launch in August.
Plastipak was previously shortlisted for this year's Sustainability Awards for its O2Blox nylon-free PET oxygen barrier technology, used in applications such as juice, ketchup, and salad dressing. The company detailed its innovations in a feature article, including recognition from the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) through a critical guidance pathway project, and RecyClass technical approval for transparent bottle-to-bottle PET recycling applications.
In other developments, Sweden's Returpack/Pantamera claims to have become the "first in Europe" to achieve RecyClass certification for its deposit return system, with its PET bottle sorting process verifying the food safety of recycled plastics and meeting EU traceability requirements. Returpack states that the deposit return system is structurally well-suited for RecyClass certification, as each container is identified at the barcode level upon return.
