en.Wedoany.com Reported - ES Foundry has expanded its solar cell manufacturing capacity at its South Carolina facility to 3 GW, completing a 2 GW capacity addition and producing the first cell from the new production line. The company, a U.S. crystalline silicon solar cell manufacturer founded in 2023, operates a 400,000-square-foot factory in Greenwood, focusing on reshoring high-quality photovoltaic cell production. As a startup, ES Foundry does not need to adjust existing project execution methods like established manufacturers, and its cells are designed to meet the supply chain requirements of U.S. module manufacturers and developers.

This expansion brings ES Foundry's total annual solar cell production capacity to 3 GW, marking the official commissioning of its expansion platform. Amid significant growth in domestic U.S. module manufacturing, where solar cells remain the most persistent supply chain challenge, the company has demonstrated execution capability. While the market has seen numerous manufacturing plan announcements, ES Foundry delivers actual operational capacity. CEO Alex Zhu stated that the U.S. market needs domestic suppliers capable of immediately supporting customers, rather than more announcements.
ES Foundry's Greenwood facility primarily produces high-quality crystalline bifacial PERC solar cells, a technology suitable for utility-scale projects and distributed generation systems. Leveraging advanced manufacturing resources, the company can achieve high-volume production while meeting customer quality standards and documentation requirements. By increasing capacity to 3 GW, ES Foundry aims to help customers reduce supply chain uncertainty and strengthen domestic content strategies.
