en.Wedoany.com Reported - Carrier Transicold has recently launched the Fleet Refresh program, which allows refrigerated fleets to replace aging transport refrigeration units (TRUs) on existing trailers without replacing the entire trailer.

The transport refrigeration equipment manufacturer stated that the program aims to help refrigerated fleets extend the service life of existing trailer assets while upgrading outdated refrigeration units.

Given rising trailer acquisition costs and extended delivery lead times, many refrigerated fleets are evaluating alternatives to full trailer replacement. The Fleet Refresh program replaces only the trailer's TRU, allowing fleets to continue using their existing trailer assets. Since only the TRU is replaced, without the need for certain trailer-mounted components (such as fuel tanks and light brackets), the program can reduce acquisition costs compared to standard new TRU installations.

Fleet Refresh is applicable to Carrier Transicold's single-temperature and multi-temperature trailer refrigeration units, including models X4 7500, X4 7700, Vector 8500, Vector 8700, Vector 8600MT, and Vector 8800MT. Each Fleet Refresh installation includes the Lynx Fleet telematics system and BluEdge service assurance. The telematics platform provides visibility into refrigeration unit performance, while the service plan aims to help maximize equipment uptime.

Greg Turner, Trailer Product Manager for Carrier Transicold's Truck Trailer Americas region, said: "Many fleets are extending trailer lifecycles due to equipment costs and supply constraints, but still require reliable refrigeration performance. Fleet Refresh allows customers to obtain the latest Carrier TRU technology, performance, and Lynx Fleet telematics and BluEdge service assurance without replacing trailers that are still usable."

For refrigerated transport companies, extending trailer service life while replacing aging refrigeration equipment offers another option for managing capital expenditures. Fleets facing higher equipment costs or longer replacement cycles may be able to maintain cold chain performance without purchasing new trailers.
