en.Wedoany.com Reported - Vector has launched an end-to-end toolchain for Service-Oriented Vehicle Diagnostics (SOVD), designed to help automotive manufacturers and suppliers more efficiently test, evaluate, and integrate next-generation vehicle diagnostic technologies on modern vehicle architectures.

SOVD is a vehicle diagnostic communication technology that standardizes diagnostic data as services using internet protocols such as HTTP, JSON, and REST API. This technology emerged from the growing demand for remote diagnostics, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and integration with external applications in software-defined and connected vehicles, extending beyond traditional service center diagnostics.

The Vector SOVD toolchain aims to accelerate and simplify the adoption of the latest SOVD technology. Described as a standard providing a unified diagnostic application programming interface (API) for both software-defined vehicles and traditional electromechanical vehicles, this new solution combines Vector's existing diagnostic tools with newly developed technologies to form a comprehensive SOVD toolchain for next-generation vehicle development.

The solution covers the entire development process from diagnostic specification and validation to in-vehicle implementation and deployment, and can be tailored to project-specific requirements. Vector states that consistent implementation of the SOVD standard helps customers reduce development costs and engineering workload while significantly shortening development cycles.

At the core of the toolchain is the newly launched SOVD Explorer, a dedicated tool for diagnosing individual vehicle components and the entire vehicle. This software provides intuitive access to all SOVD API functions, structured visualization of vehicle status, and automation capabilities.

To help customers adopt SOVD more quickly, Vector also offers the Vector SOVD Starter Kit, which includes the SOVD Explorer and the SOVD Classic Diagnostic Adapter.

Vector outlines a three-phase implementation model for SOVD. The first phase allows developers to evaluate SOVD concepts on existing vehicles based on the Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) protocol without modifying the vehicle. The second phase supports direct testing within the vehicle network to assess performance and resource consumption. The final phase involves fully integrating the SOVD protocol stack into the vehicle architecture.
