The fee adjustment will take effect from July 22, 2026, for the Far East Asia region excluding South Korea; for shipments originating from South Korea, it will take effect from August 1, 2026.
For routes to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, from the Far East Asia region excluding South Korea, the surcharge is $500 for all 20-foot containers and $1,000 for all 40-foot and 45-foot containers. The same standards apply to shipments originating from South Korea.
For routes to Syria, from the Far East Asia region excluding South Korea, the surcharge is €440 for all 20-foot containers and €880 for all 40-foot and 45-foot containers. The same standards apply to shipments originating from South Korea.
The Far East Asia region involved in this adjustment includes countries such as China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Maersk stated that this peak season surcharge adjustment is based on changes in market supply and demand and operational cost considerations, aiming to maintain the sustainability of route services. This fee will be charged in addition to the existing freight rates and applies to all types of cargo. Maersk also reminded customers that the specific surcharge amount may vary depending on the actual route and cargo type, and it is recommended that shippers check the final rates through Maersk's official channels before booking.
