en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the General Directorate of Transport Programs and Projects (Dirección General de Programas y Proyectos de Transportes), has signed the "Letter of Commission" with the North Sierra Highway Concessionaire (Concesionaria Vial Sierra Norte S.A.) to restart the rehabilitation and improvement works on Sub-sections 1 and 2 of the Sierra Longitudinal Highway Section 2, Chiple-Cutervo and Cutervo-Cochabamba.

These works will complete the 33.814 km section yet to be implemented out of the total 90.09 km of the concession contract, including the rehabilitation and improvement of pavements, bridges, drainage works, earthworks, and other facilities. The project has updated and approved final engineering documents and budgets, and the land parcels are available, allowing work to proceed as stipulated in the concession contract. Upon completion of the highway rehabilitation works, over 3.6 million residents in the northern and central regions of the country will benefit, effectively enhancing regional connectivity.
As a key transport infrastructure project in Peru, the implementation of this highway rehabilitation will improve transportation conditions along the route, reduce logistics costs, and promote regional economic development. With the signing of the letter of commission, the project will enter a substantive construction phase, providing local residents with more convenient travel conditions.
