en.Wedoany.com Reported - The affordable housing project at 1234 Great Highway in San Francisco has resubmitted a preliminary permit application to the planning department. The overall scale of the project remains consistent with the previous proposal, planning to build 199 rental apartments in an eight-story residential building, along with a single-story adult day health center. The project's co-developers are the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation and Self-Help For The Elderly.
The eight-story complex is expected to provide approximately 157,100 square feet of residential space, along with 3,400 square feet for a small nine-car garage. The unit mix includes 88 studios, 107 one-bedroom units, and four two-bedroom units. The project will also provide 32 bicycle parking spaces. Amenities within the complex include nine parking spaces, outdoor gathering areas, a community kitchen, and a lounge.
The application documents cite Assembly Bill 2162, Senate Bill 330, and the State Density Bonus Law, aiming to increase residential capacity and streamline the approval process. The project has requested zoning exemptions for building height, massing, ground-floor residential use, and non-frontage setbacks.

Paulett Taggart Architects is responsible for the project design, with San Francisco firm Figure serving as the associate architect. Cahill has released a low-resolution rendering of the project, consistent with the elevations previously published by PTA, depicting the building as a light gray box-like structure with a flat roof and floor-to-ceiling window divisions, a terracotta-toned base, and a faux-setback dark gray second story.

The project will occupy a narrow, approximately 0.8-acre lot located between Great Highway and La Playa Street, directly across from the western end of Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach. According to Cahill's estimates, construction could begin by the end of 2027, with a construction period of approximately two years.
