en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 14, 2026, bioenergy company Jalles is evaluating the construction of a biomethane plant and a corn ethanol plant. The former will utilize vinasse to power the agricultural fleet, while the latter will integrate existing assets to increase revenue. BB Investimentos analyst Daniel Cobucci stated at the Jalles Day event in July that the corn ethanol project will help diversify revenue and boost production during the sugarcane harvest off-season.

Corn ethanol and biomethane plants enter Jalles' sights

The corn ethanol plant will leverage existing industrial infrastructure to operate during the sugarcane processing off-season, thereby improving annual capacity utilization. The plant can also generate additional revenue from DDG (dried distillers grains) and corn oil. The biomethane plant will use vinasse produced from sugarcane pressing as feedstock, undergoing anaerobic digestion and purification to produce biomethane, which will replace diesel consumed by the company's agricultural fleet and irrigation equipment.

Jalles recently launched biogas operations with an installed capacity of 6,000 cubic meters per hour, laying the groundwork for biomethane production. The evaluation of these two new plants comes amid the expansion of Brazil's biofuel market, with both corn ethanol and biomethane being key areas supported by the country's energy transition policies. If the projects are ultimately approved, they will further enhance Jalles' renewable energy asset portfolio.
