en.Wedoany.com Reported - The joint venture between AF Offshore Decom and Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) has recently secured a new contract for the engineering, preparation, removal, and disposal (EPRD) of a North Sea platform on the UK Continental Shelf. This is the second contract awarded to the joint venture in a short period, with the previous one granted in February this year for the removal of another unnamed platform.

The scope of work for the new contract includes the removal of topsides with a total weight of approximately 38,500 tons. Offshore platform surveys will commence immediately, followed by detailed engineering and offshore preparation work over the next six years. The topsides will be removed over several years using HMC's vessels and transported to AF Environmental Base Vats for onshore dismantling, recycling, and disposal within the next eight years.

Lars Myhre Hjelmeset, Executive Vice President of Offshore at AF Gruppen, stated: "This contract demonstrates the strength of the joint venture and our track record in delivering safe and efficient solutions for the removal of large, complex facilities in the North Sea. We look forward to working alongside our partner HMC to advance this important work both onshore and offshore, rooted in our core capabilities."

The signing of this North Sea platform removal contract further solidifies the market position of the AF Offshore Decom and HMC joint venture in this sector.
