en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 13, 2026, UNIMOT Paliwa, a subsidiary of Poland's independent multi-energy group UNIMOT, imported a batch of crude oil via sea to the Port of Gdańsk in July this year. This crude oil will be transported from the Naftoport terminal to the PCK refinery in Schwedt, Germany, using PERN pipeline infrastructure.
This shipment of South American crude, transshipped via Gdańsk to Schwedt, demonstrates the group's ability to play a greater role in supplying crude oil to refineries in Central and Eastern Europe, thereby supporting regional energy and fuel security. In this process, the crude oil source, supply organizer, transport infrastructure, and operational model are all of significance.
After the suspension of Kazakh crude oil transported via the Druzhba pipeline in May this year, PCK, with the support of the UNIMOT group, secured this batch of crude oil from South America. This crude will enhance fuel supply security in eastern Germany and western Poland.
Robert Brzozowski, Vice Chairman of the Management Board for Commercial Affairs at UNIMOT S.A., stated that the significance of this shipment extends beyond a single commercial transaction. Any solution that can enhance the stability of crude oil supply from the western direction can improve fuel security on both sides of the border. In this case, Poland's maritime and pipeline infrastructure has become an integral part of regional fuel security for both countries. Brzozowski added that the UNIMOT group has been continuously developing its capabilities in crude oil trading, supply chain organization, and physical logistics management for years, which is a natural extension of its accumulated experience in fuel trading, supply diversification, and logistics management both domestically and internationally.
According to the PCK refinery in Schwedt, nine out of every ten vehicles in Berlin and Brandenburg use fuel produced by this refinery. The refinery supplies approximately 90% of the gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, and heating oil for Berlin and Brandenburg. Additionally, about 2 million tons of the finished fuel produced annually by the PCK refinery are supplied to western Poland to support fuel supply in provinces along the German border. Since September 2022, the majority stake in the PCK refinery in Schwedt has been held in trust by the German government, a arrangement introduced in the context of the Ukraine war to ensure energy supply security and the stability of critical infrastructure.
