Alstom delivers first Urbanliner tram to Germany, 65 units in total

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Railmark Holdings Inc. announced yesterday that it has acquired Katahdin Railcar Services LLC (KRS) in Derby, Maine. KRS is a railcar and tank car repair company certified by the American Association of Railroads under M-1002 and M-1003. This acquisition expands Railmark's operations to 13 locations, including three short-line railroads, covering 11 states. KRS's facility in Maine features the only robotic tank car cleaning system in North America and has historically served the New England region. Railmark plans to extend this business to more U.S. markets and, together with its Canadian subsidiary Railmark Canada Ltd., expand KRS's mobile repair services to New Brunswick and Quebec.

Alstom today began delivering the first Urbanliner tram to Germany's largest public transport company, BVG, and the vehicle has entered passenger service. The Urbanliner, measuring 50 meters in length, is longer than the GT6 trams previously used in Berlin and will initially operate on one of the city's busiest lines, the M4 route. BVG has ordered a total of 65 Urbanliner trams from Alstom, with the manufacturer expecting to deliver approximately 14 more by the end of 2026 and complete the entire order by 2030. Berlin's Senator for Transport, Mobility, Climate Protection, and Environment, Ute Bonde, stated that the Urbanliner can accommodate over 300 passengers and represents a mobility solution oriented toward people's needs.
