en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 13, Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., successfully launched the 406TEU green intelligent multi-functional scientific research training ship built for Intercontinental Ship Management Group Holdings Co., Ltd. This project, jointly promoted by Shanghai Maritime University and Intercontinental Ship Management, is China's first green multi-functional training ship, aiming to become the world's first demonstration vessel compliant with the International Maritime Organization's Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (IMO MASS) Code.
Designed by CIMC Offshore Engineering Institute Co., Ltd., the vessel has an overall length of approximately 104 meters, a beam of 18.80 meters, a depth of 8.80 meters, a design draft of 5.50 meters, and a service speed of about 10 knots. It is classed by China Classification Society (CCS). Innovatively integrating three core functions—teaching internships, scientific research training, and coastal container commercial transportation—the ship will serve as a maritime education and research platform for cultivating high-quality shipping talent, representing the advanced level of China's electric ship design and green shipping technology.

The vessel adopts multi-mode power switching and is equipped with seven sets of large-capacity box-type battery modules, which are both rechargeable and swappable, achieving energy efficiency and environmental protection under various operating conditions while minimizing the carbon footprint of navigation. The ship's Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) is far below the Phase III standard, enabling green, low-carbon, and energy-efficient operations. Among them, two sets of containerized mobile power supplies are provided by CSSC SaiSiYi (Wuxi) Electric Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shanxi Fenxi Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. under China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited. Each set has a single battery capacity of 1,999.98 kWh, designed as a 20-foot standard high-cube container, including a control system, lithium battery system, fire protection system, temperature control system, vibration isolation system, remote monitoring system, and uninterruptible power supply, with full consideration of regulatory requirements, fire protection, BMS specifications, and system maintainability.
