en.Wedoany.com Reported - Western Baltic Engineering, part of Lithuania's BLRT Grupp, has unveiled a concept design for a green methanol bunkering vessel for the Port of Klaipeda, Lithuania. The vessel, measuring 69.36 meters in length, can carry up to 800 tons of green methanol and is specifically designed for shallow waters and local bunkering routes. Under full operational capacity, it can supply up to 250,000 tons of fuel annually.

According to BLRT Grupp, this is Western Baltic Engineering's first concept design developed specifically for green methanol bunkering. Previously, the company collaborated with its shipyard Western Baltija Shipbuilding and Estonian shipbuilder Baltic Workboats to design and build the 42-meter hydrogen-electric waste collection vessel RASA for the Port of Klaipeda.

The announcement comes as the European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved approximately €100 million in financing to support projects including the port's energy transition. The project, with a total budget of €201 million, aims to modernize and expand the core Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), with a focus on investing in port infrastructure and operations to enhance maritime transport and logistics, promote offshore renewable energy deployment, and provide logistical support for allied military vessels. The financing was approved on April 23, with the agreement signed on July 8.
