en.Wedoany.com Reported - Bahri Logistics, a business unit of the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), in collaboration with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), has officially launched the "Bahri Bonded Zone" at Jeddah Islamic Port. This facility is Bahri's first integrated logistics bonded zone, designed to offer a range of logistics solutions, strengthen Saudi Arabia's position as a global logistics hub, attract cargo flows, and promote trade and supply chain development.
Located at Jeddah Islamic Port along the main Red Sea trade corridor, which handles approximately 30% of global container shipping volume, this strategic position supports trade flows between Asia, Europe, and regional markets. It provides businesses with direct access to major international shipping routes, reducing delivery times to markets in Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and East Africa.
The facility is equipped with advanced temperature-controlled storage environments suitable for ambient, chilled, and frozen goods, and offers value-added services such as cross-docking, sorting, labeling, co-packing, and repackaging. Additionally, the bonded zone features a fully integrated digital platform directly connected to ZATCA's electronic platform FASAH, enabling real-time cargo tracking and customs clearance procedures.
Under ZATCA regulations, businesses can store and re-export goods at this facility without paying customs duties or value-added tax (VAT) in advance (subject to regulatory limitations). This helps improve cash flow, enhance operational flexibility, and boost trade operational efficiency.
Eng. Ahmed Alsubaey, CEO of Bahri, stated that the launch of the Bahri Bonded Zone marks a significant milestone for the company in expanding integrated logistics services and meeting customer needs, reflecting its commitment to developing advanced logistics infrastructure, improving supply chain efficiency, and supporting Saudi Arabia's ambition to become a global logistics hub. Through its strategic location and integration with customs systems, the facility will provide customers with greater efficiency, flexibility, and operational control.
Soror Basalom, President of Bahri Logistics, noted that the Bahri Bonded Zone covers over 95,000 square meters, offering storage capacity for more than 80,000 pallet positions and capable of handling over one million pallets annually. The facility includes 34 loading docks and is equipped with solar panels that meet approximately 20% of its energy needs. It also features ambient, chilled, and frozen storage facilities, along with integrated logistics solutions.
The bonded zone operates with a comprehensive security system, including 24-hour surveillance and controlled access procedures, ensuring safety, security, and operational reliability. The facility is expected to serve import and export businesses, e-commerce platforms, and industries requiring temperature-controlled warehousing, such as pharmaceuticals and food, while facilitating market access for non-Saudi resident enterprises. The launch is part of Bahri Logistics' strategy to expand its integrated logistics capabilities and support the growing demands of regional and global trade.
