en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Brazilian federal government issued Provisional Measure No. 1.377/2026 on Thursday (16), allocating an additional R$13.285 billion in special credits to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and the Office of the Attorney General of the Union. These funds are intended to support rural innovation, debt refinancing for creditworthy producers, and independent sugarcane producers in the Northeast region affected by US tariffs.

In the sugar-energy sector, the provisional measure provides R$270 million in economic subsidies to independent sugarcane producers in the Northeast region affected by extreme climate events and additional US tariffs. Additionally, R$9 billion will be allocated to support technology development projects for rural producers, funded by the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) and disbursed through the Brazilian Innovation and Project Financing Agency (Finep), with a focus on promoting technology, increasing productivity, and enhancing agricultural competitiveness.

The measure also reserves R$3 billion for the "Special Program for Financial Rebalancing of Creditworthy Borrowers" (Desenrola Adimplentes) and allocates another R$1 billion to support creditworthy beneficiaries of the Student Loan Program (Fies). The government stated that these funds will be implemented in conjunction with the R$4 billion already planned under Provisional Measure No. 1.373/2026.

In addition to measures for the production sector, the provisional measure allocates R$15 million for Brazil's voluntary contributions to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
