10GWh Long-Term Order Secured! HiNa Battery Teams Up with VOLTA to Accelerate Sodium-Ion Battery Expansion Overseas
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 2, HiNa Battery officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with VOLTA Co., Ltd. of South Korea. Building on their previous 15MWh energy storage project collaboration, the two parties will advance a five-year long-term supply agreement totaling 10GWh. The earlier 15MWh project covered three application scenarios: utility-scale energy storage, commercial and industrial energy storage, and residential energy storage.

Under the agreement, HiNa Battery is responsible for sodium-ion battery cell technology and manufacturing supply, while VOLTA handles energy storage system integration and marketing in the South Korean domestic market. Kwangwoon University in South Korea participates as a technology validation partner in project R&D, testing, and related technical verification efforts. The tripartite collaboration scope extends from cell manufacturing to energy storage system integration, technical testing, and project implementation in the South Korean market.
HiNa Battery has established a sodium-ion battery product portfolio tailored to various energy storage scenarios. Among the mass-produced products announced by the company in October 2025, the HE240 energy storage cell features a nominal capacity of 240Ah and is primarily designed for utility-scale energy storage, having completed two years of production validation on the GWh-level cell production line in Fuyang, Anhui Province; the NE170 energy storage cell features a nominal capacity of 170Ah and is mainly used for frequency regulation energy storage and distributed energy storage, and has already achieved batch deliveries.
On the manufacturing front, HiNa Battery has built 10,000-ton-scale cathode and anode material production lines as well as GWh-level cell production lines. Its Fuyang production base in Anhui Province has previously undertaken production validation and mass-production tasks for energy storage cells such as the HE240. The company has also established battery supply chain collaborations with Mianyang Liyuan and Yuheng Battery.
HiNa Battery's sodium-ion battery production line in Fuyang was completed in 2022, with Phase I of the project planning a cell production capacity of 1GWh and a total investment of RMB 588 million; in November of the same year, GWh-level sodium-ion battery products rolled off the line. This production base is an important component of HiNa Battery's existing large-scale cell manufacturing system.
VOLTA and Kwangwoon University had previously established a sodium-ion battery technology cooperation relationship, covering sodium-ion battery cells, modules, and packs, and extending to BMS, PCS, EMS, as well as energy storage system design, safety, reliability, performance evaluation, certification, and testing validation. Kwangwoon University undertakes the relevant R&D and validation work, while VOLTA is responsible for energy storage system design, manufacturing, installation, and operation.
The contract value, annual supply volumes, initial delivery timeline, and corresponding project capacity under this five-year 10GWh agreement have not been disclosed.
