en.Wedoany.com Reported - Solaer Renewable Energies has officially entered the digital infrastructure sector, planning to build a data center campus in the Atacama region of Chile. The campus will be supported by 197 MW of solar power generation and 500 MWh of battery energy storage to power artificial intelligence and other high-performance computing applications.

The company's Chilean subsidiary has signed a long-term lease agreement covering approximately 2,000 hectares of land in northern Chile. The agreement allows Solaer to conduct technical, environmental, and economic studies, obtain relevant permits, and potentially further develop and operate this integrated energy and digital infrastructure project. The initial assessment phase is expected to last up to 36 months. If the project proceeds, the lease contract stipulates an operational period of 25 years, with an option for renewal, for a total maximum duration of up to 40 years.

The campus will be adjacent to Solaer's seawater desalination project, ENAPAC. The ENAPAC project aims to supply water to mining operations and other users in the Atacama region. The integrated infrastructure system will include 197 MW of solar power generation, 500 MWh of battery energy storage, and approximately 400 kilometers of water pipelines.

Solaer stated that the combination of solar power, battery storage, and desalinated water can meet the critical needs of large data centers, including continuous power supply, cooling water availability, and space for future expansion. As of now, the company has not disclosed the planned computing capacity, total investment, construction timeline, or potential technology partners.

Public information currently available on the ENAPAC project indicates that its early phase is configured with 150 MW of solar capacity and approximately 400 MWh of storage. The project is still under development, with previous estimates suggesting an investment of around $1.5 billion for the integrated infrastructure, including energy, desalination, and water conveyance.

Solaer develops renewable energy, energy storage, and seawater desalination projects in Israel, Spain, Italy, Poland, and Chile. Founded in 2009, the company currently reports a portfolio of 1.5 GW in development, 1.4 GW under construction or in pre-construction preparation, and 129 MW in operation.
