en.Wedoany.com Reported - Turn Services (New Orleans, Louisiana) has taken delivery of the tugboat War Admiral, the second vessel in an eight-boat project built by Verret Shipyard (Plaquemine, Louisiana). The vessel follows the first tug delivered under the program, Sir Barton, with six more boats under construction, though the company did not provide a specific delivery schedule.

The 1,600-horsepower vessel, along with the entire eight-boat series, is equipped with the same twin-screw propulsion package supplied by Laborde Products. Each boat is powered by two Mitsubishi S6R2-Y3 Tier 3 diesel engines, rated at 803 horsepower at 1,400 rpm.
Turn Services provides fleet assembly, shifting, towing, cleaning, repair, and fueling services along the lower Mississippi River and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. The company aims to standardize machinery across this series of vessels, providing a common operating platform for crew members and simplifying maintenance plans as the boats enter service. Lucian Lott, Chief Operating Officer of Turn Services, stated that the goal is to build vessels suited to current operations while meeting the long-term needs of the fleet; as the project progresses, consistency among the boats facilitates smoother crew transitions and lays the foundation for future development.
Laborde Products supplied the engines and provided technical and commissioning support during construction, collaborating with Turn Services and Verret Shipyard on installation and startup. Bradley Matte, Gulf Coast Regional Sales Manager at Laborde Products, noted that the S6R2 engine is well-suited for inland service applications; for such multi-vessel projects, adopting a proven platform across the entire fleet helps support daily operations and long-term maintenance planning.
