This device applies automation technology to the layout phase of building construction. Layout is a critical stage where project drawings are accurately transferred to the construction site, traditionally relying heavily on manual operations. Based on 2D CAD files, HP SitePrint directly prints lines, symbols, and annotations on the ground for constructing partition walls, facilities, structural components, or furniture, while also supporting text, codes, and reference marks to facilitate coordination among different trades.
During operation, HP SitePrint connects to a robotic total station that determines the robot's real-time position on the construction site, achieving system accuracy of ±2 mm. The robot can execute complex layout paths including arcs, curves, and irregular geometries, and is equipped with sensors, depth cameras, and a navigation system to detect obstacles and automatically recalculate paths, maintaining workflow continuity.

The primary goal of this technology is to reduce layout errors, one of the common causes of rework in construction. By eliminating most manual measurements, rework is reduced, and coordination among project stakeholders is improved. According to HP, depending on the project type and layout complexity, layout automation can deliver up to ten times greater efficiency compared to traditional methods.

HP SitePrint is part of a fully digital workflow. Project files are managed through a cloud platform, facilitating version control, information exchange, and work tracking from the office. The system is compatible with robotic total stations from manufacturers such as Leica Geosystems, Topcon, and Trimble, making it easy for construction companies to integrate into their regular processes.
