en.Wedoany.com Reported - Portuguese energy company EDP has officially launched the 10th edition of its global innovation program, Energy Starter, with the first open module, "Future Grids," accepting applications until August 23. This module focuses on identifying innovative technological solutions to enhance grid capacity, flexibility, and resilience.

In a statement, EDP said the program aims to accelerate the application of technologies related to the energy transition and foster collaboration with global startups and scale-ups. The "Future Grids" module seeks innovative solutions that can increase grid capacity and flexibility, improve operational monitoring and control, accelerate infrastructure development, and enhance the grid's ability to withstand extreme events.

Eligible applicants can submit their materials through the program's official website, after which they will enter an evaluation phase and conduct online pitches. Selected companies will be invited to attend a bootcamp at EDP's headquarters in Lisbon to advance pilot project development and explore business opportunities.

According to EDP, selected projects will be fully funded by the company and granted access to its assets, data, and teams to facilitate implementation and eventual commercial deployment.

Since the inception of Energy Starter in 2016, EDP has collaborated with startups on over 200 pilot projects, completed 45 commercial implementations, and made 30 venture capital investments, involving business opportunities worth approximately €140 million.

In addition to the "Future Grids" module, the program also features "Renewable Energy" and "Client Solutions" modules, aligning with the strategic direction of the energy industry.

EDP operates across four major regions—Europe, North America, South America, and Asia-Pacific—and is one of the leading companies in the global renewable energy sector, with innovation regarded as a key pillar of its strategy to accelerate the energy transition.
