As aerospace manufacturers pursue lighter, more efficient components and more resilient supply chains, additive manufacturing continues to gain attention within the industry. Eaton's new additive manufacturing facility is designed to support localized, production-scale additive manufacturing in Europe, helping customers address challenges related to complexity, supply chain resilience, and production readiness.

Tomasina Bailey, Vice President of Engineering at Eaton's Aerospace Group, stated that by expanding additive manufacturing capabilities in Europe, customers can move faster from design to production of certified components. She noted that with deep engineering expertise and integration capabilities, Eaton is setting the standard for additive scaling in aerospace, delivering the performance, reliability, and design flexibility customers need when delivering next-generation platforms at scale.

Located at Eaton's aerospace manufacturing campus in Wimborne, the facility integrates design, engineering, printing, and verification within a single environment. The operational European Additive Manufacturing Center enhances Eaton's ability to support regional aerospace projects and achieves more resilient localized production in Europe.

Mike York, Director of Additive Manufacturing and Digital Design at Eaton's Aerospace Group, stated that Eaton expects to expand the facility's capabilities to further enhance its ability to support high-reliability commercial and military projects at scale. Based on customer demand and operational readiness, the company anticipates using titanium and electron beam additive processes and is committed to obtaining the rigorous AS9100 aerospace quality certification.

Eaton's additive manufacturing capabilities enable the production of lighter, more efficient components while reducing material usage and minimizing tooling requirements. At the core of the facility is Eaton's largest metal additive manufacturing system, which offers twice the productivity of previous platforms, accelerating development cycles and increasing throughput for complex, safety-critical components.

Eaton's global manufacturing network spans multiple regions, providing customers with dual-source, regionally coordinated solutions. This expanded network gives global aerospace customers greater supply chain resilience and redundancy, reduces logistics delays, and ensures business continuity for critical projects.
